The Ghost Pirate Skeletons of Three Craters Lake is now on comiXology!
HappyGlyphs Comics announces that The Inquiring Minds: The Ghost Pirate Skeletons of Three Craters Lake, is now available in digital form at comiXology.com.  This is a 32 page, full color all-ages comic book adventure.
The Inquiring Minds are three kids (Albert, Bobby, and sometimes Iris) who can usually be found exploring all things strange and unusual in their hometown of Three Craters Lake. This summer, however, they’re going to find plenty of adventure in their own backyard, as Albert, ever seeking fame and fortune, declares that The Inquiring Minds are going to build their own theme park!
Sounds crazy, but as Iris herself says, “Bobby and Albert just don’t know enough to let anything stop them!”
When the town’s Mayor decides to check things out, their success, or possible failure, comes down to one ride... The Ghost Pirate Skeletons of Three Craters Lake!
“With comiXology,” says creator John Steventon, “fans can read the comic book on any digital platform that has the comiXology app, and pick up where they left off on one device to another.  It’s simple, easy to use, and you can zoom in on the artwork and pick up on details you may have missed in the print book.”
Produced by HappyGlyphs Comics, The Ghost Pirate Skeletons of Three Craters Lake is a One Shot Summer Special designed to introduce the series to an expanded audience.  Those familiar with the Inquiring Minds will be thrilled to see them in their first full length story, while new fans will really get to see these characters in action. The Inquiring Minds have appeared in their own series of all ages, kid friendly web-comics, which spawned a comic strip collection entitled The Inquiring Minds: Funny Pages #1 and two eBooks available for the Kindle App.  Individual cartoons have been featured in a book about the great Underground Railroad, as well as an 8th Grade Literature textbook.
Fans can learn more about The Inquiring Minds and other great HappyGlyphs Comics at http://www.HappyGlyphs.com, online bookstores like Amazon.com and Lulu.com, and at various comic conventions such as Comic Con International in San Diego
Art for this comic is available upon request.

So what are some of the advantages?  Well, like a paper comic, you can view whole pages, entire spreads, or one panel at a time.  With Digital, though, you can zoom in on the action and art, and see details you might not have noticed in the paper comic.  Not that paper isn't great, but like a paper comic, you take the digital version with you, and catch up on your reading anywhere.  I started reading the comic on my phone, and when I picked up my tablet, it asked if I wanted to pick up where I left off on my phone.  Pretty cool!

So please check it out.  We'll still have paper books, of course, and we do have digital books on Kindle, but this looks worth looking into.  And if we do well on comixology, there'll be more books on comixology, and more new books for you to read!

Thanks for the support,    JOHN :0)

Great Lakes Chapter Anniversary Dinner

I had a truly great weekend recently, which made me really happy to be a cartoonist.  Not only did the new exhibit at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum open, but I attended the 20th Anniversary celebration for the Great Lakes Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society!

It's always inspirational and just plain fun to be in a room of cartoonists, and this was no exception.  We chatted for a bit, had dinner, and then a chapter meeting discussing a fun new group project (more on that when it comes together). There was a look back at 20 years (actually 25, considering the group unofficially met for 5 years!) and a really cool raffle with great prizes.  I was quite pleased to win a gift bag from last year's Reuben Awards, full of all kinds of goodies.

A big thank you to Polly Keener and Earl Musick for throwing such a great party!  And thanks to old friends and new for making it even better. :0)

Next up, pics from the Bill Watterson and Richard Thompson gallery exhibit!
